Williamstown dockland by Canon EF 50mm f1.2 L

Sunset in Melbourne has been quite beautiful lately given the unexpected build up of cloud and rain. Weather really creates beautiful imagery.
f1.2 is handy to use without tripid and I have reasonable sharpness from the shooting on the day.

In the sun by Leica 50mm Summicron f2 CAM1

No make up artist. Directly being shun by the sinking sun. The colour is pro warm colour code and the wet look makes it look quite strange.

Leica 50mm f2 summicron has that ability to reduce the highlight to the minimum that I do not have much luck with Canon 50mm f1.2L

Somehow the colour and texture are best preserved with this lens

Paella by Olympus ZD 50mm f2 macro

A beautiful meal pre christmas. The dish cost me 38 AU Dollars! Quite dear for scanty food.

However, it was a pleasant day spending my cash.

The bokeh from olympu 50mm f2 macro is a little harsh and this is the first time I spotted purple fringeing that I had to desaturate the image quite a bit.

Night guitar play by Leica 50mm f2 summicron Cam I

Another image taken at night. The colour stands out as it is from this classic lens. The manual focusing can be tricky at times but when it is done right, it is a memorable image.

Pentax Da* 55mm f1.4 Lens testing

This post is to refer to a very good testing of Da* 55mm f1.4 when it was first released. The page is maintained by a respected member of pentax on-line community, wieland, who has dedicated his time to a number of pentax limited lens series.

Testing of Da* 55mm f1.4 SDM by blend8

This testing is probably of the best one I have seen, objectively assessing various parametres of this lens.

A typical Sunday morning by Pentax Da* 55mm f1.4 SDM

I have realised one thing over the past 2 weeks:
"I am getting addicted to Pentax Da* 55mm f1.4 SDM"
Even though I have a dozen of 50mm length lenses, this one rocks. Even this lens is not fast enough in terms of autofocusing, the lens has its touch. The feeling of this lens in my hands feels just right: solid and well built. Quite classic.
You can see the pop from the image here. Totally unprocessed, jpeg straight out of k20d camera.
This image somehow grabs my attention a lot as I wonder what they are all thinking with a very different look on their faces.

Have a Ciggie by Leica 50mm f2 Summicron

The smoking trend is getting picked up again.

Surprisingly, Leica summicron picked up so much skin details from a man who obviously smoked too much to damage his skin.

Still, the colour and contrast from this lens is seriously a pro level quality.

Ghost lights by Pentax Da* 55mm f1.4

Pentax Da* 55mm f1.4 SDM is the hot lens for me at the moment. Though the lens is still not autofocusing that great on k20d. I am still using it as my walk around lens.
What I realise with this lens different from the rest of 50mm lenses I have used was its water proof feature. Over the past 2 weeks, I was basicly soaked in the rain shooting and glad that the images from this lens had yet failed me so far.
This image was taken inside a cafe whose food was quite terrible to taste. However, the lighting was quite mysterious. The cafe is off Colin St CBD Melbourne.
